Palette Play Friday

This beautiful abstract print from Australian designer Lamai McCartan inspired this week's Palette Play. A beautiful mixture of blues and greys with a hint of pink, lime and black.

Colour Pop: Turquoise Blue

Inspired by the sea, this turquoise blue colour pop invokes a feeling of serenity and calm. I love the unusual use of a colour found with this painted bathroom ceiling and this colourful kitchen sink. It's a great way to bring colour in without it being overwhelming. I also love the hint of shimmer with the foil used on these business cards and the modern coloured edges.

Lusting After... Stairs

I've been lusting over stairs for quite some years, since I've been living in a flat for over 10 years. Any old normal stairs would do, but why not dream of something better! From this perforated red metal wall encasing the steps, to these beautifully shaped wooden ones, the metal geometric stairs come shelving unit or glass ones with coloured lights shining through, they are all simply stunning! I'll take them all!

Mini Trend Flash- Pretty Ice

Palette Play Friday

Dark Jungley greens, and bright pinks, purples and oranges make up this week's Palette Play Friday with a painting called Good Morning, Sunshine by Carrie Schmitt. I can't wait to try this palette out on a new print, it will be great for the new summer in winter trend for AW17.

On this bright summer's day we have a coral pink colour pop of deliciousness! From those ombre nails to upcycled furniture, those amazing front doors to fun electric plugs, coral has been around a while but it's definitely here to stay. Team with dark greyish/ greenish brown to really make it stand out!

Lusting After... Rainbows

Rainbows are multicolored, kaleidoscopic, ombred, spectrums of colour, and I love them! My eye is always instantly drawn to anything rainbow coloured, and it makes me smile! So this week I'm lusting over every colour in the rainbow- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo & violet... on stairs, nails, windows and cakes.

This week's Palette Play comes from an artist called Jaime Derringer, who does wonderful colourful abstract pieces. I love the fat brushstrokes and naive loose lines, all with a fun bright colour palette- I think it would look great as a cute floral colourway.

Colour Pop: Lime Green

A pop of lime green will definitely lift your spirits and brighten your day. It looks really good against the black/ grey / cream base... I want that skirt!!!

Mini Trend Flash: Icecream

Icecream seems to be all the rage at the moment, but not as we traditionally know it. One such example of this, the Japanese trend of making icecream into roses has recently reach the continent, and these beautiful, delicate works of art are all over Instagram at the moment. Other noticeable trends are rainbow & ombre colours, icecream biscuit sandwiches and most recently painting with it! I'm definitely salivating at the thought of all of these!
